Mein Name ist Marco Hengst. 1998 fing ich als Lehrling bei ‘New Art Tattoo’ in Nijmegen am Willemsweg an. Mein Lehrmeister war Wolfgang Nielen, besser bekannt als ‘Wolf’, der leider nach vier Monaten meiner Lehre verstorben ist. Trotz alledem habe ich nicht aufgegeben. Wolfs Vertrauen in mich und dass er mir alle seine Kenntnisse des Fachs hinterlassen hat, motivierte mich, weiter zu machen. Dies hat mein Leben zum Positiven verändert. Nach all den Jahren habe ich noch immer sehr viel Spaß an meiner Arbeit. Dafür bin ich Wolf noch jeden Tag dankbar.
Nach dem Tod von Wolf habe ich zusammen mit Kim ‘Skin A Matic’ in der van Welderen-straat in Nijmegen eröffnet. Nach 16 Jahren harter Arbeit beendete ich aus privaten Gründen die Zusammenarbeit und habe ich einen neuen Weg eingeschlagen. Bis ich bei Andy’s Body Electric anfing, habe ich einige Guest Spots im In- und Ausland gemacht. Im Moment arbeite ich noch immer mit viel Spaß bei Body Electric mit einem super Team, positiv gestörter Irrer. ;-)
Ich bin Allrounder in Sachen Tattoo, aber meine Vorliebe habe ich für den asiatischen Stil und Pin-ups. Am allerwichtigsten ist für mich, dass unsere Kunden mit einem zufriedenen Gefühl und einem guten Tattoo das Studio verlassen und uns gerne wieder besuchen, auch wenn es nur für ein kurzes “Hallo” und einen Kaffee ist.
Eins ist noch wichtig zu wissen: Ein Tattoo hat schwarze Linien! Warum? Komm vorbei, dann erklär ich es Dir.
My name is Marco Hengst. In 1998 I started as an apprentice at ‘New Art Tattoo’ at Willemsweg in Nijmegen. My teacher was Wolfgang Nielen, better known as ‘Wolf’. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye after four month apprenticeship, because he died. I was still motivated to go on, because Wolf believed in me and he left al his knowledge about tattooing behind with me. This changed my life for the good and after all these years, I still love my job. For this, I thank Wolf every day.
After Wolf died I opened my own studio, together with Kim: ‘Skin A Matic’ at the Welderenstraat in Nijmegen. Unfortunately I no longer work there. After 16 years of working hard together and private circumstances I decided to follow another path. Until the time I started working at Andy’s Body Electric, I did several guest spots in inland and abroad. At the moment I’m still having fun working at Body Electric, a great team, positive crazy misfits. ;)
I’m an allround tattooer, but I prefer doing asian and pin-ups. But the most important thing for me is, that you leave the studio happy and with a good tattoo and that you love to come back to us, even it’s just to stop by for a ‘hallo’ and a coffee.
One thing is important to know: a tattoo always has a black line. Why? Come by the studio and I will tell you.
